Install the add-in
Download and install the OceanBIM Family Manager add-in for Revit.
Work in progress
Check the system requirements first, and have your account details ready: you sign in from Revit afterwards.
Download the installer
Get the current release from the OceanBIM releases page. Each release lists its version and file size.
Run the installer
Close Revit first. If Revit is still running, the installer asks you to Save your work and close Revit and offers Retry and Cancel; it never closes Revit for you.
The setup then walks through:
- Terms and policies. Read them and tick the checkbox. Next stays disabled until you do.
- Destination folder.
- Select Revit versions. Every Revit year included in the release is ticked, even a year you do not have installed. Untick the ones you do not want; at least one must stay ticked.
The installer installs for your own Windows user, so it does not need administrator rights.
Open Revit
Open Revit and go to the Add-Ins tab. The add-in adds an OceanBIM panel with a FamilyManager button. Choose it to open the add-in.
Next: sign in from Revit.
Update to a newer release
Download the newer installer from the releases page and run it the same way. It upgrades the existing installation. It will not install an older release over a newer one, and it keeps the Revit years you chose earlier unless you change them.
Uninstall
Remove OceanBIM from Windows Settings, Apps, with Revit closed.
TODO — Confirm before publishing
- What Windows shows when it runs the installer (a security prompt depends on how the release is signed), and how a user should answer it.
- Where exactly the add-in's uninstall entry appears in Windows, and whether uninstalling leaves the sign-in on the computer.
