Revit add-in

Sign in from Revit

Connect the add-in to your Family Manager account.

Work in progress

This page is a draft. Some sections are placeholders and details may change.

You sign in to the add-in with the same account you use on the web. The add-in hands the sign-in over to your browser, where you confirm it.

Start sign-in in Revit

Open the add-in from the OceanBIM panel on the Add-Ins tab. On the Welcome back screen, choose Login. (No account yet? The same screen links to sign-up.)

Confirm in your browser

Revit shows Waiting for login from web… with a Cancel button, and your default browser opens a page titled Confirm this login. It says An external Revit add-in is requesting access to your account and shows the account that is signed in on the web. If it is you, choose Yes, this is me; if you did not start this, choose Not me. If your account uses two-factor authentication, you complete it first.

There is no code to copy: the add-in and the browser hand the result to each other automatically.

The Confirm this login page in the browser

Back in Revit

The add-in is now signed in and shows your library.

A sign-in request can be used once, and the add-in waits 3 minutes for it. If the wait runs out you see Login session expired. Please try to login again.; if the browser page says the request has expired, start again from Revit. Choose Cancel to stop waiting at any time.

Sign out or change account

Choose the round account button at the bottom of the add-in's side menu. Its menu has Help, Accounts, a Theme choice (Dark or Light) and Log out. To use a different account, choose Log out, then Login again. The confirmation page shows which account it will use; if that is not the one you want, sign in to the other account on the web first.

Accounts opens the add-in's Settings screen. Log out ends the add-in's own session and clears its saved sign-in. It does not sign you out of the web app in your browser.

Once you are signed in, you can connect the open model to a workspace. See Publish families.
