Public gallery
Publish your best families so anyone can find and preview them.
Work in progress
Publish your best in-house families, or your whole product range, as a public library. Anyone can find it and spin the 3D preview. Downloading needs a free account, and the rest of your library stays private.
Browse what others have published in the public gallery.
What visitors see
For each family in a published library, anyone can see:
- its name, category and Revit version, and its thumbnail;
- the interactive 3D preview.
They cannot download a file until they sign in. Everything else in your library stays private, and the published library shows only the families you put in it.
Visitors can search the gallery and narrow it by category, Revit version and date. The hashtags you give your library help people find it.
A publisher that is a workspace shows a Verified mark next to its name. A personal share shows Individual instead.
Publish a collection
Publishing is done from a workspace collection, by the workspace owner or an admin. Publishing is not tied to your plan.
Put the families in a collection
Create a collection in the workspace and add the families you want public. See Organize your library.
Open the collection's settings
Open the collection and go to its General tab, then choose Share public.
Describe it and publish
The Publish collection window reminds you what becomes visible: each family's details, thumbnail and 3D preview. Add a Title and Description, and up to 10 hashtags so people can find it. Choose Publish collection.
Change or take down a publication
On the collection's General tab, a published collection offers:
- Edit publication to change the title, description or hashtags;
- Unpublish to remove it from the gallery. The collection and its families are untouched.
Families you add to a published collection appear in the gallery, and families you remove stop appearing, without publishing again. The counts at the top of the published feed can take a short while to catch up.
Publishing from your own library
Your personal families and folders can also be made public. In the Share window, choose Anyone with the link instead of Specific people. A family must have an uploaded version and a folder must contain at least one family, or the app tells you what to fix first. If you publish an item again, the new publication replaces the earlier one, and the old link stops working.
Published versus shared
| Published | Shared | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can see it | Anyone, including visitors without an account | Only the people you pick |
| Download | Needs a free account | Depends on their access level |
| Where it lives | The public gallery | The recipient's Share page |
TODO — Confirm before publishing
- The signed-out gallery page: it fails to load on DEV today (see the note at the top of this file). Re-check, and recapture the image, once it is fixed.
