Approve changes
Review a request to change a workspace family, and approve or reject it.
Work in progress
When someone who is not an approver publishes from Revit into a workspace, or uploads families into it from the web, each new family or version waits for an approver. It is invisible to everyone else until it is approved, so nothing in the shared library changes without a decision.
Who can approve
A workspace Owner or Admin, a project Admin for requests into that project, or an approver assigned to the project. See Approvers.
Reviewing a request
Open the request to see the message, any attachments, and the parameter differences against the current version.
- Approve: the version gets its number and becomes the current version. Any other waiting requests for the same family are rejected as superseded.
- Reject: the request is marked rejected with your reason, and the version is never promoted.
Either way, the person who sent the request is notified in the app and by email.
Find the requests
- The workspace's Sync requests tab lists them. Pending shows what waits for a decision; Approved shows the history. Use the search box, the filter and the sort order to narrow a long list.
- The bell at the top of the app tells approvers when a new request arrives.
Choose a request to see its timeline: every version that was sent for that family, newest first, with who sent it and its status.
The review screen
Open a pending entry in the timeline to review it.
On the left, the request itself:
- Commit N of M, to step through the requests waiting for this family;
- the Description the sender wrote (from the web it defaults to Bulk upload);
- who sent it and when, the file size, the Revit version and the category;
- Approver: who is notified. Leave it blank to notify every approver;
- any Attachments.
On the right, the family itself:
- Family Parameters lists the parameters of the version sent. Compare with version puts them side by side with another version (choose it under Select version): new parameters are marked added, and groups that differ are marked Modified with the number of changes.
- Viewer 3D shows the model.
At the bottom: Approve, Reject and Delete. Delete withdraws the pending request without a decision; the sender and anyone who may approve it can use it. Download at the top gets the file so you can open it in Revit first.
After a rejection
Choosing Reject asks for an optional reason. The sender is notified in the app and by email, and the rejected version stays in the request's timeline with your reason, so they can see what to fix and send a new version.
