Search and filter

Find any family in your library in seconds.

Work in progress

This page is a draft. Some sections are placeholders and details may change.

Search your whole library at once instead of guessing which folder a file is in. Narrow the results with filters such as category and Revit version.

What search looks for

Type in the Search families, folders… box. Results include both families and folders.

  • Search first looks for the words you typed, in names.
  • When a short query, or a question in plain language such as door with a glass panel, finds little that way, search also looks for families whose content matches what you described, even if their names use other words.
  • You can search in another language. The query is turned into English keywords first, because family descriptions are kept in English. This uses AI credits; if none are left, search still runs on your words as typed.

In My families the search box opens a search window. Type, and the results appear at once, with tabs for All, Families and Folders and the number in each. Each result shows its thumbnail, its path, its date and its category. Press Enter or choose a result to open it.

Narrow the results

In the search window, + Filter adds a filter:

FilterChoices
CategoryOne Revit category
TagOne tag
UpdatedAny time, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, This year
ThumbnailOnly families that have a thumbnail
ScopeAll, Owned by me, Shared with me. Not shown in My families, which already means your own library
MatchExact phrase

Each filter you add appears as a chip you can remove. The sort order at the top right is Relevance, Recently updated or Recently created.

Shared with me limits the results to families and folders other people shared with you. See Share with people.
